Premarin - Why Is Horse Urine In Estrogen Medication

Let me tell you something you won’t hear from your doctor…

That little estrogen pill you’ve been prescribed for hot flashes or hormone imbalance?

It was made from horse urine.

Yes.

HORSE URINE!

The pharmaceutical drug PREMARIN is one of the most commonly prescribed forms of estrogen replacement therapy. It literally got its name from PREgnant MARe urINe

Manufactured by Pfizer, it’s produced through a deeply cruel and inhumane process:

• Female horses are repeatedly impregnated, forced to stand in tight stalls, unable to lie down.
• They’re denied adequate water because concentrated urine brings in more profit.
• Catheters collect their urine to be processed into estrogen drugs.
• Once the foals are born, many are discarded like trash, sold at auctions, and tragically, many end up in slaughterhouses.

This is the foundation of “modern medicine”. Profit without recourse for the harm caused or exploitive practices used. This is what you’re told to put in your temple?

But it gets worse…

Synthetic estrogen doesn’t just come from a place of cruelty, it creates a cycle of dependence and dysfunction in your body.

When you take synthetic hormones, your brain senses estrogen in your bloodstream and says,

“Oh, we’re good. Shut down natural production.”

Your ovaries and adrenal glands stop trying, and they shrink, just like male anatomy shrinks with steroid use. But ya’ll not ready for that conversation…

The longer you stay on it, the more your body forgets how to make its own hormones.

So you become dependent. A customer for life.

And that’s exactly what the pharmaceutical industry wants.

Premarin is typically prescribed to women experiencing symptoms of low estrogen, especially during or after menopause. It’s also used in some very specific medical situations. Here’s a breakdown:

1. Postmenopausal Women

For relief of menopausal symptoms caused by declining estrogen levels:

• Hot flashes
• Night sweats
• Vaginal dryness
• Pain during intercourse
• Osteoporosis prevention (if other options aren’t suitable)

2. Women Who’ve Had a Hysterectomy

Premarin may be used without added progesterone in women who’ve had their uterus removed, since there’s no risk of estrogen-induced endometrial cancer.

3. Women with Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (POI)

For women under 40 whose ovaries stop functioning early, doctors sometimes prescribe Premarin to replace estrogen and protect bone and heart health.

It’s also being used for “feminizing hormone therapy”

But this drug isn’t without risks…

Premarin is NOT meant for hormone balancing, and it’s definitely not a solution for estrogen dominance. It’s also not bioidentical, meaning its estrogens are not chemically identical to human estrogen, and that’s part of why it can cause so many side effects.

SERIOUS HEALTH RISKS OF PREMARIN:

1. Increased Risk of Cancer

• Uterine (Endometrial) Cancer: Estrogen taken without progesterone in women with a uterus can cause overgrowth of the uterine lining, raising cancer risk.
• Breast Cancer: Long-term use of combined hormone therapy (estrogen + progestin) has been linked to a higher risk of breast cancer.
• Ovarian Cancer: Prolonged estrogen use may slightly increase the risk.

2. Blood Clots

• Estrogen thickens the blood, which can lead to dangerous blood clots, especially in the legs (deep vein thrombosis) or lungs (pulmonary embolism).

3. Stroke and Heart Attack

• Hormone therapy can increase the risk of stroke and heart attack, particularly in older women or those with other risk factors like high blood pressure or smoking.

4. Gallbladder Disease

• Estrogen may lead to gallstones or gallbladder problems, sometimes requiring surgery.

5. Cognitive Decline

• In women over 65, long-term estrogen use was linked to a higher risk of dementia and memory issues.

6. High Blood Pressure & Blood Sugar

• Estrogen therapy can contribute to elevated blood pressure and higher blood sugar, increasing cardiovascular risks over time.

Premarin is the most well-known estrogen medication made from pregnant mare’s urine, but it’s not the only one. Here’s a list of estrogen-based drugs that contain conjugated equine estrogens (CEE) - meaning they’re derived from horse urine:

ESTROGEN MEDICATIONS MADE FROM HORSE URINE (CEE):

1. Premarin

• The original and most common.
• Contains a mixture of estrogens extracted from the urine of pregnant mares.

2. Prempro

• A combination of Premarin (CEE) and a synthetic progestin called medroxyprogesterone acetate.
• Often used in women with a uterus to prevent endometrial cancer while on estrogen therapy.

3. Premphase

• Similar to Prempro, but the estrogen and progestin components are taken in a phased sequence rather than together.

These are all manufactured by Pfizer and marketed primarily for:

• Menopausal symptoms
• Postmenopausal osteoporosis
• Hormone therapy in hysterectomized women or in combination for those with a uterus

Check Your Labels:

If a hormone medication contains “conjugated estrogens USP,” it likely includes equine estrogens unless it specifically says it’s plant-based or bioidentical.
