Your Immune System - Part 3

by Mr Vigour

Do you know the secret way to turbocharge your immune system, without sending it into overdrive?

YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM Part 3 of 4

It’s called the Thymus Pump, and it’s a God-given immune boost you can activate at any time, absolutely free.

God designed your body with a powerful immune headquarters called the thymus gland. This small gland, located in the center of your chest behind the sternum, is responsible for producing T-cells which are your body’s frontline defense against viruses, bacteria, and even cancer. The thymus is a vital part of your immune system, but as we age, it tends to shrink, making immune function weaker over time.

The good news, is that you can activate and strengthen your thymus gland naturally!

You’ll get a kick out of this… you probably grew up watching the thymus pump on tv.

Ever notice how Tarzan thumped his chest before letting out his famous jungle roar?

He wasn’t just showing off, he was stimulating his thymus gland! This simple action called the thymus pump helps increase immune function, reduce stress, and strengthen your body’s resilience which are all things we need to stay healthy and strong, especially during times of stress.

Benefits of the Thymus Pump

  • Boosts Immune Response – Stimulates T-cell production to help fight off infections faster.
  • Reduces Stress – Helps regulate cortisol levels, which can suppress immunity when too high.
  • Increases Energy – Sends signals to the nervous system to promote vitality and strength.
  • Supports Detoxification – Encourages lymphatic drainage, helping your body remove toxins.

How to Do the Thymus Pump

  • Find the thymus gland: Place your hand in the center of your chest, just below the collarbone.
  • Using your fingers or a loose fist, gently tap, thump, or massage this area for 15-30 seconds.
  • Breathe deeply as you do this, thanking God for the healing power He placed within your body.
  • Repeat 1-3 times a day, especially when you feel run down or need an energy boost.

Incorporating deep breathing exercises while doing the thymus pump can amplify its immune-boosting effects by increasing oxygen flow, reducing stress, and enhancing lymphatic circulation. Deep, intentional breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which helps lower cortisol levels and creates the ideal environment for immune cells to function properly.

As you tap or massage your thymus gland, try taking slow, deep breaths by inhaling through your nose for 7 seconds, holding for 7 seconds, and exhaling through your mouth for 7 seconds. This combination not only stimulates T-cell production but also promotes a state of peace and restoration in your body. As you breathe, you can pray or speak life over your health, declaring “By His stripes, I am healed” (Isaiah 53:5) and trusting in the divine design of your immune system.

Herbs & Supplements to Strengthen Your Thymus Gland

~ Zinc – Essential for T-cell production and immune function.

~ Vitamin C – Protects immune cells and fights infections.

~ Vitamin D3 + K2 – Helps regulate immune response and prevents autoimmunity.

~ Medicinal Mushrooms (Reishi, Turkey Tail, Cordyceps, Lion’s Mane) – Support overall immunity and thymus health.

~ Astragalus – Strengthens immune defenses and reduces inflammation.

~ Echinacea – Helps boost white blood cell activity. Just be weary of this herb if you have the COMT gene mutation, especially MET/MET.

Fasting: God’s Built-In Immune Reset

When sickness comes, sometimes the best thing you can do is stop eating and start hydrating. A 3-day water fast has been shown to reset the immune system, allowing the thymus gland to regenerate and produce new, stronger immune cells.

Even in Scripture, fasting is connected to spiritual and physical renewal:

“But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”

~ Matthew 6:17-18

Several studies have explored the effects of short-term fasting on the immune system:

1.  Innate immune remodeling by short-term intensive fasting” (2021): This study found that a 72-hour water-only fast in humans led to significant changes in immune cell function. Specifically, there was an increase in autophagy (the body’s process of cleaning out damaged cells) and a reduction in apoptosis (programmed cell death) in leukocytes, enhancing overall immune function.

2. “Diet mimicking fasting promotes regeneration and reduces autoimmunity and multiple sclerosis symptoms” (2016): Research demonstrated that periodic cycles of a fasting-mimicking diet lasting three days improved immune regulation in mice. The fasting cycles reduced disease severity by decreasing pro-inflammatory cytokines and promoting the regeneration of myelin, the protective sheath around nerves.

3. “Fasting induces an anti-inflammatory effect on the neuroimmune system” (2011): This study observed that a 24-hour fast in mice led to reduced expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines in the brain, indicating an anti-inflammatory effect on the neuroimmune system. The findings suggest that short-term fasting can modulate immune responses and potentially benefit conditions associated with neuroinflammation.

5 Lifestyle Strategies to Support Immune Health & the Thymus Gland

~ Prioritize Rest & Sleep – Your body heals while you sleep. Aim for 7-9 hours per night.

~ Get Sunlight Daily – Vitamin D from the sun strengthens immunity and helps T-cell function. If you can’t get sunshine, get a supplement.

~ Eat Whole, Nutrient-Dense Foods – Avoid processed foods and sugar, which weaken the immune system.

~ Reduce Stress & Anxiety – Chronic stress suppresses the immune system. Pray, breathe, and trust in God’s plan.

~ Move Your Body Daily – Exercise and movement stimulate lymphatic flow and immune function.

God has given you everything you need for health and healing, both inside your body and in His creation. The thymus pump, fasting, and natural nutrients are just a few of the ways you can strengthen your immune system and walk in the vitality He designed for you.

Steward your body well, because it is the temple of the Holy Spirit. That means taking care of your immune system!

“Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

~ I Corinthians 6:19-20
